Areas of Interest
Prof. Pons' teaching and research interests focus on the intersections of Latin American Literature and culture, and Chicano Studies, and the new research of class, gender, and race in the cultural symbolic production. Her research agenda has focused primarily on alternative discourses to the hegemonic social order, including research on the contemporary historical novel in Latin America, as well as counterhegemonic narratives within the context of Southern Cone military dictatorships. Currently she is developing a comparative study analyzing the notion of chaos in different manifestations of contemporary Latin American and Chicana/o literary production.
